Tagesworkshop: Einstieg in den naturgemäßen Obstbaumschnitt
Im Garten der Villa Kuriosum findet sich eine der wenigen innerstädtischen Obstwiesen Berlins.
Viele der Bäume warten geduldig auf einen Schnitt, der sie schonend von überalterten Zweigen und
zu dichtem Jungwuchs befreit um sie noch lange schön und gesund zu halten.
Nach einer Einführung in die biologischen Grundlagen des Obstbaumschnitts und die
Schnittführung werden wir uns einigen Apfelbäumen nähern und uns bei praktischen
Schnittübungen ausführlich mit dem “warum”,“wann“ und “wie” der naturgemäßen
Obstbaumpflege auseinandersetzen.
Maximale Gruppengröße: 12 Personen. Bitte meldet euch spätestens 4 Tage im Vorraus verbindlich
an.
Der Kurs findet überwiegend im Freien statt, bitte bringt wettergemäße Kleidung,
Arbeitshandschuhe und falls vorhanden eigenes Schnittwerkzeug (scharfe Baumsäge, Astschere
etc.) mit.Teilnahmegebühr nach Selbsteinschätzung (Empfehlung: 10 bis 40 Euro).

Die Teilnehmenden bekommen in diesem Workshop erste intensive Einblicke in folgende Themen
vermittelt:
– Besonderer ökologischer Wert von Streuobstwiesen und essbaren Waldgärten
– Entwicklngsgeschichte der Kulturobstsorten, Sortenauswahl und Standortansprüche
– Gesetzmäßigkeiten der Triebbildung und Entwicklungsperioden von Obstbäumen
– Aufbau einer naturgemäßen Krone / Unterschied zwischen naturnahem und naturgemäßem
Schnitt
– Altersgerechter Schnitt: Erziehungsschnitt, Erhaltungsschnitt, Altbaumpflege
– Unterschiede beim Schnitt von Kern- und Steinobst und Beernobst
– Schnitt und Ertrag bei den unterschiedlichen Kulturformen
– Der richtige Zeitpunkt des Obstbaumschnittes
– Schnitttechniken und Werkzeuge
– Vorgehen beim Obstbaumschnitt: Reihenfolge und Schnittführung

Day workshop: Introduction to close to nature fruit tree pruning
The garden of Villa Kuriosum is home to one of the few inner-city orchards in Berlin.
Many of the trees are patiently waiting for a pruning that will gently free them from overaged
branches and too dense young growth to keep them beautiful and healthy for a long time to come.
After an introduction to the biological basics of fruit tree pruning and cutting techniques, we will
approach some apple trees and in practical pruning exercises we will deal in detail with the “why”,
“when” and “how” of natural fruit tree care.
Maximum group size: 12 persons. Please register bindingly at least 4 days in advance.
The course takes place mainly outdoors, please bring weatherproof clothing, working gloves and if
available your own cutting tools (sharp tree saw, pruning shears etc.). Participation fee according to
self-assessment (recommendation: 10 to 40 Euro).
